Day 19: Saturday

Happy Birthday Brooke!

Last night Megan had a boy that came and stayed the night then he hung out with us for half the day today.  We ended up walking to the Stone Park, the Barony, and the Kvinnherad church.

At the Stone Park there was this really old saw mill.  The thing that made it even more cool was that it looked like the mill had recently been used.  There was wood all over the place as well as sawdust.  Then outside there was water in the trough that was leading to the saw mill.  We got there to late to actually see it in action though.

The other thing about the Stone Park was that there were actual stones there.  There were some really smooth stones.  I really liked it.  The stones were really big as well.  Megan is sitting at one of the many picnic tables that were all throughout the stone park.
There was also this interesting structure.  I am not sure what to call it.  But inside there was a fire ring and there was a hole in the top that provided smoke a place to escape.
Our next stop was up the road a little ways.  It is called the Barony.  The barony is the former home of the only Nobility in Norway.  The building is from the 1600s I believe.
I liked the rose bush garden that was right outside.  That might not be the right word.  I have high hopes for the rose garden that is outside the barony.  The lines were very straight and there was a small and simple design.  Something that I would expect from that time period.

Our last (new) thing that we saw was the Kvinnherad Church that was built in 1250.  There is a sign that says that.  It wasn't new for me but it was new for Nick.  We did take a different way to get to the church than we took before so that was cool.

I just checked my UP app and it said that our 'little' walk was actually 4.64 miles.  It took us 2 hours to walk so that wasn't bad at all.  A very nice afternoon activity.

As said above today was Brooke's birthday.  Earlier today she said that she was going to jump in the fjord.  Well, even though it was cold and windy she still jumped it.  I was impressed. Here is her blog post about it.
